I deeply appreciate the love my husband shows me, so I make sure to surround him with tenderness and care. We live in perfect harmony, and everyone who knows us admires our family. To me, our bond is the best in the world. I love my husband, Steve, dearly, and he loves me just as much...
Time passed.
Steve had a close friend named Bill. They had been friends since childhood and were, as they say, thick as thieves. They ran a business together, and I was very close with Bill's wife, Kathy, as well.
Anyway, Bill had a long-standing passion: fishing. My dear Steve didn't really share that hobby. But Bill would often come over and tell us how incredible it was to sit with a rod at dawn...
The great outdoors, barbecues—finally, he talked my Steve into going away for two days to a great fishing spot...
It was our wedding anniversary, and Steve convinced me to spend the occasion at a cabin on the shore of a beautiful lake. He said it would be romantic and all that. I rarely went on trips like that, but I happily agreed to spend the time with Steve at a lakeside lodge...
I imagined how wonderful it would be together. I sent our daughter to her grandmother's house, and we started packing. I found the right clothes for a trip out of town, and soon everything was ready to hit the road...
Early in the morning, Bill picked us up in his old 4x4. I was in a magical mood. The weather was magnificent. We loaded everything up and set off...
The drive took about an hour over some rough backroads. We were tossed around quite a bit in the cabin, but thank God, we finally reached our destination...
I stepped out of the vehicle. Just as Bill had promised, the place was stunning. The lake had breathtakingly blue water and a beautiful sandy shore. Right in the middle of the lake was a fairly large island with a small, one-story cottage visible on it. We were surrounded by a beautiful pine forest...
It was like a fairy tale.
I hugged my beloved Steve, and we stood there together, admiring the view of the magical lake.
"Hey guys, come on, let me show you the house!" Bill shouted to us, waving his hand.
"Coming!" Steve called back, and we walked hand-in-hand behind Bill along a wide path following the shore...
We held hands. The birds were singing cheerfully, and the leaves rustled in the breeze. I was so glad I'd agreed to come here with him. We had so rarely made time to go anywhere together lately...
Soon, we came out into a large clearing by the lake. Closer to the woods stood a substantial two-story house. Bill was already greeting a large, dark-featured man. They were talking loudly and gesturing animatedly...
"Guys, over here!" Bill shouted happily.
"We're coming, we're coming!" Steve shouted back.
"This is the owner of the house, Rick," Bill said with an impressed tone, gesturing toward a massive, burly man with a beard.
"Hello, Steve." Rick extended his hand, and they shook.
"I'm Sarah," I introduced myself, feeling a bit shy.
I don't know why, but I felt intimidated by this large, older man at that moment.
Rick was a healthy, powerful guy, probably in his late fifties. He had a neatly trimmed beard and a bit of a belly. He politely kissed my hand. I felt the tickle of his beard against my skin.
"Hello, beautiful Sarah."
Rick gave me a wide smile.
"Hello, Steve..."
I was incredibly flattered. I couldn't even remember if anyone had ever kissed my hand like that before. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't recall a single instance. A soft pink blush immediately colored my cheeks.
"Come in, dear guests," Rick said, gesturing toward the house.
"Thank you," I replied politely, melting with embarrassment like a little girl...
The first floor featured a large living area with a massive table. It was an open-concept space; the kitchen opened into the hall with a high bar counter where you could order drinks and food...
Off to the side was a wide staircase ending in a small square landing upstairs. Three doors led to various large rooms...
Each room had its own private bathroom...
They gave us the largest room with a big bed and a desk. The windows offered a beautiful view of the lake. Everything was simply fantastic...
It was only about eleven in the morning. We settled into the room, changed, and went back downstairs. Rick, hearing that it was our anniversary, promised to prepare a wonderful lunch...
"Your husband is very lucky to have such a beauty," he exclaimed with a slight accent.
"Mmhmm," Steve agreed, nodding and looking at me with a smile.
"Today there will be a special lunch and a magnificent dinner," Rick pronounced solemnly, pointing a finger toward the sky...
"Thank you, Rick," I smiled.
"I will go all out just for you," he said, looking at Steve and me.
But I had the distinct impression he was speaking directly to me.
"Everything will be ready by one," Rick assured us decisively.
"Thanks!" we replied cheerfully and hurried down to the lakeshore.
We walked along the water; it felt like the birds were singing just for us that day. I felt so good walking the forest trails with the man I loved. We hardly spoke a word that afternoon—we were just happy being together...
Two hours flew by in an instant. Quite hungry, we hurried back to the house...
"So, how was the walk? Did you like it?" Rick met us at the door, smiling warmly...
"Thank you, Rick. It's lovely here," we replied almost in unison...
"Come in, dear guests. Bill has been waiting for you," Rick gestured for us to enter.
Bill was already sitting at the table...
"Finally! Where have you two been?" he asked playfully.
"Just walking," I replied with a mischievous smile, resting my hands on Steve's shoulder.
"Ah... right, of course," Bill looked at us and grinned...
It was obvious he was dying to start eating...
The table was truly laid out grandly. A mountain of delicious meat sat on a large platter. There were also salads, appetizers, and fresh greens. Everything looked incredibly appetizing...
"We'll be right there!" We washed our hands.
I ran upstairs, put on a pretty sun dress, and came back down.
"Oh ho!" Rick clapped his eyes on me and began to applaud. "Please, take a seat. Everyone was waiting just for you..."
He said it in a way that made me feel shy all over again...
"Sarah, sit here," Steve pointed to the chair next to him...
"Thank you, honey," I said politely and sat down...
Rick came out of the kitchen carrying a large plate...
"Meat is for us men, but for the beautiful lady—this," Rick said, triumphantly bringing out a plate covered with a silver dome and placing it in front of me.
He lifted the lid; on the plate lay beautiful pieces of baked salmon.
"Oh, how lovely!" This time I clapped my hands like a little girl.
I really loved well-prepared fish and was genuinely thrilled.
"Thank you, Rick. You're the best cook I've ever met," I thanked him with a grateful smile...
"Don't mention it, Sarah. Enjoy your meal," he said with a wide grin. With that, Rick bowed and retreated to the kitchen.
We began to eat. The fish was absolutely delicious. The men were devouring the meat with gusto. Rick brought out some tasty homemade wine, making the lunch even more pleasant. Everything was wonderful and delicious...
Soon, Rick's son, David, arrived. He was a handsome young man, tall like his father. He and Bill seemed to be friends. He joined us at the table, and the men chatted happily about "guy stuff."
After lunch, David took us to see some scenic spots. He led us through the woods at such a pace we could barely keep up...
I felt like I'd walked at least a week's worth of steps that afternoon...
By dinner, we were so tired we could barely make it back to the house...
A celebratory dinner was waiting for us. I put on another nice dress. There were many delicious dishes. Rick had once again prepared the tasty fish for me, along with a few signature dishes with exotic names...
There were many toasts to Steve and me. Everything went perfectly...
After dinner, Steve and I took a short walk along the shore and headed back to the house. We were so exhausted from the day that we fell asleep almost immediately. That was how our little family celebration went. On the whole, I was very satisfied...
The next morning, a knock on the door woke us up.
"Stop sleeping! Hey, you newlyweds, get up!" Bill shouted from behind the door.
"We're coming! Stop banging!" Steve shouted, getting out of bed.
"Breakfast is served, I'm waiting for you downstairs!" Bill wouldn't quit...
"We're coming, we're coming!" I shouted cheerfully, jumping out of bed and heading for the shower.
We got ready as fast as soldiers. I put on a light dress, and fifteen minutes later, we were at the table...
Breakfast was delicious. The men were animatedly discussing the upcoming fishing. Rick had once again prepared a special dish for me, and I ate it with pleasure.
"That was delicious," I thanked the smiling Rick.
"Anything for you, Sarah. Relax and enjoy the nature; it's beautiful here," Rick said with a broad smile.
Until lunch, David spent the day showing them the best fishing spots, various tackle, and things like that. I followed them like a shadow, not understanding a word of their conversation. By lunchtime, I was quite worn out...
Lunch was spent discussing fishing plans and other things I found completely uninteresting. I felt quite hurt that Steve wasn't paying any attention to me that day. Only Rick kept smiling at me and bringing me various treats. I was incredibly grateful to him. He kept reminding me that I was a beautiful, lovely woman, not just part of the furniture...
After lunch, the men decided to nap for two hours before the evening fishing. Steve fell asleep instantly, and though I tossed and turned for a while, I eventually drifted off too.
Two hours later, we were woken up, and everything started moving at an unthinkable speed. They were running around the shore, hauling inflatable boats and rowboats. They were preparing feeders, nets, and tackle I didn't recognize...
But I could see the process was well underway...
David brought out some premium brandy, and they kept meeting up to clink glasses before running off again. It was funny to watch from the sidelines. Maybe my Steve didn't quite know what he was doing, but Bill and David clearly knew their business...
Once everything was ready and loaded, they finally got into the boats and pushed off. I decided it was better to stay out of the way and watch from the shore. Rick brought a comfortable chair and set it out on the pier for me. Not five minutes had passed before he brought a small table and placed a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine on it...
"Thank you, Rick. That's very kind," I said.
"Sarah, you are the queen of our lake." He opened the bottle gracefully and poured me a glass of his signature wine.
"Thank you, Rick, I'm flattered," I said, feeling shy again.
It was a bit chilly in the evening, and he helpfully covered me with a warm blanket. His attentiveness almost made me feel awkward, and I kept thanking him. I was embarrassed, but I truly appreciated the attention...
The weather was mild. From the shore, I watched the men in the two boats setting the nets. They were shouting and discussing things loudly. I sipped the delicious wine and felt incredibly peaceful...
Sometimes Rick would join me. He kept coming out to see how their progress was going. We chatted and laughed at the men's antics. Thanks to Rick, the way he spoke and looked after me made me feel like a pampered lady. It made me feel even warmer and better inside...
Evening was falling, and dinner was approaching. Even from the shore, I could see things weren't going exactly as they'd planned. Rick signaled them with a flashlight the old-fashioned way, and soon the boats slowly headed for the shore. I waited for my Steve on the pier like a sailor's wife. But he was so excited and caught up in the fishing that he barely noticed me. I felt a sharp pang of resentment...
They tied up the boats and, talking animatedly about their own business, walked toward the house. Seeing this, Rick delicately offered me his hand and helped me down from the pier...
"Don't mind him, Sarah. He doesn't mean anything by it," Rick said with a kind smile, trying to soothe me.
"Thank you, Rick. You're a very observant man," I said with a sad sigh, watching Steve talk to the guys without a glance in my direction.
"Don't be mad at him. He's a young man; there is much he doesn't understand yet," Rick encouraged me fatherly...
"I know, but still... it's our anniversary trip. We haven't been away together in so long," I sighed, complaining to Rick...
"It will be alright, Sarah. You'll see," Rick reassured me in a calm voice.
"Thank you. You're a very kind person," I thanked him once more.
Somewhat heartened by Rick's words, I headed to the house. The men sat down to eat almost immediately, without even changing. Steve didn't even wait for me. I sat down and realized no one was paying me any mind...
Rick brought me something delicious again. It was only then that I realized Steve was already quite drunk. It became clear they'd taken the brandy onto the boats and polished off a good amount. I was starting to notice my own head spinning pleasantly once I got into the warmth. While sitting on the shore, I'd finished almost the entire bottle of wine...
My Steve almost never drank at home, and it was obvious it was hitting him hard. But he didn't notice. They were drinking brandy with the meat, while Rick brought me some sort of delicious liqueur. It was strong but very tasty, and I became quite tipsy...
Dinner was in full swing, but no matter how hard I tried, my dear Steve still didn't pay any attention to me. I felt deeply hurt. Standing up, I said, "Steve, I'm going to bed."
I had a faint hope he would hug me and ask me to stay... but...
Steve just replied curtly, "Okay, honey. Goodnight."
That was it. He just went back to talking with the guys...
Even more offended and on the verge of tears, I went up to our room...
I undressed and took a shower. Putting on a pretty nightgown, I got into bed. Downstairs, the men were discussing something very loudly. The sound traveled easily; I could almost make out what they were saying. They were talking about everything under the sun except me. I had so hoped that Steve would focus only on me during these days.
I turned toward the window, and tears began to leak from my eyes onto the pillow. The alcohol made my head swim pleasantly. Downstairs, the men continued their loud conversation, and I was just starting to drift off. Suddenly, I heard the door creak softly. In that moment, I was so happy that Steve had remembered me. But I was still very hurt and decided not to turn toward him.
"Let him apologize, since he's been so neglectful of his wife," I thought.
Steve quickly shed his clothes, and I felt him crawl toward me across the wide bed...
I didn't want him to see that I'd been crying because of him, so I pulled the edge of the blanket over my eyes. I was so angry with him then...
"Go back and sit with your friends. Why did you even come up?" I said petulantly.
But I was truly glad he had come to me. I loved him so much.
The man pulled back the edge of the blanket, uncovering my legs. He turned me onto my back, and that was when I realized it wasn't Steve. It was Rick...
I wanted to scream and call for Steve, but I immediately realized he wouldn't understand and there would be a terrible scene. Steve would never forgive me for this.
"Rick? What are you doing here?" I whispered, terrified.
"Quiet, Sarah, or the guys will hear," Rick whispered back...
"I thought you were Steve," I whispered again, my eyes wide.
"You were hurt, Sarah. It's okay," Rick began to stroke me under the covers.
"But Steve is right downstairs, I can't—" I started to protest in a low voice.
"It's alright, it won't be long," Rick moved closer...
"But Steve is right there... I shouldn't."
"Quiet, Sarah. Softly now."
He made himself comfortable and began doing exactly what he had come for.
I felt I had no choice, and once again, I found myself being unfaithful to my husband...
It had been over a year since that encounter on the train when I had strayed before. I was out of practice with men of such large stature. To keep my husband from hearing, I had to bite down on the blanket. My eyes were wide as I lay there, not knowing what to do. I was terrified that my husband would walk in at any second and find out everything. Rick, apparently, had been without a woman for a long time, and he completely overwhelmed me...
For some reason, I didn't even think to go to the shower afterward...
I lay there for about twenty minutes, and then I heard the voices downstairs go quiet. Soon I heard voices again, but they were coming from outside the open window and getting fainter...
Then the phone rang. I jumped, startled. With trembling hands, I picked it up.
"Did Rick tell Steve everything?" The terrifying thought flashed through my mind.
"Yes, honey?" I said, my voice shaking with nerves.
"Hey, Sweetheart. Just calling to say we're heading back out to fish some more. Love you, call me if you need anything."
"Okay, dear."
"Goodnight, baby."
"Goodnight, honey."
Steve hung up. I breathed a sigh of relief. Rick hadn't told him.
I had such a good family and a husband I loved. A happy family was the most important thing in the world to me, and I couldn't imagine the thought of losing it...
I lay on the big bed. A cool summer breeze played across my neck. Then I heard the door creak again. I turned my head; Rick was squeezing through the door, carrying a massive tray of food. As he wedged himself through the door with that tray, he looked like a character from an old comedy. He had such a funny expression that I almost laughed.
"Let me help you," I said, seeing him trip over his own feet in the dark.
"Yes, thank you, Sarah, I'm about to fall over."
Our bags were near the bed, and Rick had nearly tripped in the dark. I hadn't eaten much at dinner, so this late-night snack was very welcome. Rick poured me more liqueur and offered beautiful toasts. Thank God Steve was busy, otherwise he surely would have been upset to find me having a late-night dinner with Rick...
We chatted happily. Rick told me he had a wife, but she had gone to visit relatives and wouldn't be back for a while; he was all alone here now...
In turn, I told him that my dear Steve and I were never apart for long and that I understood how hard it was to be away from a spouse...
Rick also talked about his son and how he planned to leave the resort business to him while he returned to his homeland...
We finished eating, and I started clearing the dishes. Rick said he'd be right back for them and stepped out. Having cleared the table, I decided to take a shower...
When I came out, Rick was already in the room. He pulled me toward the bed. I hadn't expected this and was sure he wouldn't push his luck further...
But I was wrong...
Rick was such a huge, powerful man that refusing him felt impossible...
And I gave in to him again...
After it was over, we went back to eating and chatting about various things. I talked about our close-knit family, our love, and how we always understood each other perfectly. Rick told funny stories and anecdotes from his life. It was a good time...
After a rest, Rick took my hand and led me back to the bed. Our marathon continued. I reached the heights of pleasure countless times that night. My long-neglected desire was thoroughly satisfied. I was so exhausted my eyes closed on their own, and I soon fell into a deep sleep...
The phone ringing woke me up. Groggy, I didn't even realize where I was at first. Rick was gone; I was alone in the room. Grabbing the phone, I saw it was Steve.
"Yes, honey?" My head was still fuzzy from sleep...
"Sorry, Sarah. The guys and I fell asleep in the sauna last night; we just woke up. How are you doing?" I heard Steve's apologetic voice...
"Oh, I'm fine. Just walking by the lake," I said, saying the first thing that came to mind...
"We're going to check the nets now, and then I'll come back to you, my love."
"Okay, sounds good. I miss you. See you soon," Steve hung up, and I let out a long breath...
I looked at the clock; it was almost two in the afternoon. I wasn't really tired anymore, but I decided to just lie there and rest...
It was another hour before the guys rowed back. Steve got out of the boat and immediately gave me a tight hug.
"I missed you so much," Steve said, holding me close and stroking my hair.
"I missed you too, so much," I hugged him back tightly, and in that moment, I felt truly content...
When we went inside, I knew Steve would be looking for some intimacy. I told him that I'd sat on the pier too long yesterday, the wind had gotten to me, and I wasn't feeling very well. Steve felt even worse for me then. He felt very guilty for his behavior and didn't leave my side for the rest of the trip...
But it was time to head back. We said our goodbyes to Rick and David, loaded the 4x4, and started the journey home. The guys were in high spirits. Rick had given us a huge discount, making the vacation very affordable. Surprisingly, they had caught a lot of fish. The freezer was almost completely full. Steve was very pleased and suggested going back the following weekend, but of course, I flatly refused...
After that trip, Steve felt so guilty for leaving me alone that night that he showered me with care and affection. I really liked it. I pretended to be very upset with him. But in my heart, I wasn't angry at all. He'd just had too much to drink; he hadn't done it on purpose...
And, of course, I soon forgave him...
After all, he was the person I loved most in the whole world.
