I deeply cherish the love my husband has for me, and so I shower him with my affection and care. We live in perfect harmony, and everyone around us adores our family. I think it’s the best in the world. I love my husband Steven dearly, and he loves me just as much…
Time passed.
Steven had a close friend named William. They’d been friends since childhood, inseparable, as the saying goes. They ran a business together, and I was also very close with his wife, Emma…
Now, William had a long-standing passion—fishing. My beloved Steven didn’t quite share this enthusiasm. William often came over to our place and talked about how wonderful it was to sit with a fishing rod at dawn…
Nature, barbecues, and finally, he convinced my Steven to join him for a two-day fishing trip to a great spot…
It was our wedding anniversary, and my darling Steven persuaded me to celebrate it at a cottage by a beautiful lake. He promised romance and all that. I rarely ventured out of the city for such outings, but I happily agreed to spend time with my beloved Steven at a lakeside country house…
I imagined how wonderful it would be for us. I sent our daughter to her grandmother’s, and we started packing for the trip. I found suitable clothes for a getaway to the countryside, and soon everything was ready to hit the road…
Early in the morning, William picked us up in his old van. The mood was magical. The weather was splendid. We loaded everything up and set off…
The drive took about an hour on a rough road. It was quite bumpy in the cabin, but thank goodness, we finally reached our destination…
I stepped out of the van. As William had promised, the place was truly stunning. The lake had breathtakingly blue water. A beautiful sandy shore. Right in the middle of the lake was a fairly large island with a small one-story house visible on it. All around was a gorgeous pine forest…
It was like a fairy tale, not just a place…
I hugged my beloved Steven, and we stood there, embracing, admiring the beautiful view of the magical lake.
— Guys, come on, I’ll show you our house! — William shouted, waving at us.
— Coming! — we replied, and hand in hand, we followed William along a wide path by the shore…
We held hands. Birds sang cheerfully, and the leaves rustled. I was so glad I’d agreed to come here with my beloved. After all, we hadn’t gone anywhere together in a while…
Soon, we reached a large clearing by the lake. Closer to the forest stood a sizable two-story house. William was already greeting a large Middle Eastern man. They were talking loudly and animatedly, gesturing with their hands…
— Guys, come over here! — William called out cheerfully, waving at us.
— We’re coming, we’re coming! — Steven shouted back.
— This is the host, Ralph, — William said meaningfully, gesturing toward a large, bearded man.
— Hello, Steven, — Ralph extended his hand, and they shook.
— Theresa, — I introduced myself, feeling a bit shy.
I don’t know why, but I felt embarrassed around this grown, imposing man.
We greeted Ralph. He was a big, sturdy man, about fifty years old, with a neatly trimmed beard and a slight paunch. He courteously kissed my hand. I felt the tickle of his beard against my skin.
— Hello, beautiful Theresa.
Ralph smiled broadly at me.
— Hello, Steven…
I was incredibly flattered. I couldn’t even recall if anyone had ever kissed my hand like that before. Try as I might, I couldn’t remember such a moment. A light pink blush immediately colored my cheeks.
— Come in, dear guests, — Ralph said, gesturing toward the house.
— Thank you, — I replied politely, melting with embarrassment like a little girl…
On the first floor, there was a large living room with a huge table, shared by all guests. The kitchen opened into the room with a high bar counter where you could order drinks and food…
Off to the side was a wide staircase leading to a small square landing upstairs. Three doors opened to different spacious rooms…
Each room had its own shower and bathroom…
We were given the largest room with a big bed and a table. The windows offered a beautiful view of the lake. Everything was simply amazing…
It was around eleven in the morning. We settled into our room, changed, and went downstairs. When Ralph learned it was our anniversary, he promised to prepare a wonderful lunch…
— Your husband is so lucky to have such a beautiful wife, — he exclaimed with a slight accent.
— Uh-huh, — Steven nodded, smiling at me.
— Today, there’ll be a special lunch and a splendid dinner, — Ralph declared solemnly, pointing a finger skyward…
— Thank you, Ralph, — I smiled at him…
— I’ll make a special effort for you, — he said, looking at Steven and me.
But it felt like he was addressing me specifically.
— Everything will be ready by one, — Ralph assured us firmly.
— Thank you, — we replied cheerfully and hurried to the lake’s shore.
We strolled along the lake, and it felt like the birds were singing just for us that day. I felt so wonderful walking with my beloved on the forest paths. That day, we barely spoke—we were just happy being together…
Two hours flew by like a moment, and, quite hungry, we hurried back to the house…
— So, how was your walk? Did you like it? — Ralph greeted us at the doorstep, smiling warmly…
— Thank you, Ralph. It’s wonderful here, — we replied almost in unison…
— Come in, dear guests, William’s been waiting for you, — Ralph gestured for us to enter.
William was already at the table…
— Finally! Where’ve you been? — he said with a joyful tone.
— We were walking, — I replied with a playful smile, holding onto Steven’s shoulder with both hands.
— Oh, right, of course, — William looked at us, grinning…
It was clear he was eager to dig into the food…
The table was truly set magnificently. Delicious meat was piled high on a large plate. There were salads, appetizers, and fresh herbs. Everything looked incredibly appetizing…
— Be right back, — we said, washing our hands.
I ran upstairs, put on a beautiful light dress, and came back down.
— Wow! — Ralph clapped his hands cheerfully when he saw me in the dress… — Please, take a seat, everyone’s waiting for you…
He said it in a way that made me blush again…
— Theresa, sit here, — Steven pointed to the chair next to him…
— Thank you, darling, — I thanked Steven politely and sat down…
Ralph came out of the kitchen, carrying a large plate…
— The meat is for us men, but for the beautiful ladies—here’s this, — Ralph said solemnly, placing a covered dish in front of me.
He lifted the lid, revealing beautifully baked pieces of red fish.
— Oh, how sweet! — I clapped my hands like a little girl.
I genuinely loved well-cooked fish, and I was thrilled.
— Thank you, Ralph. You’re the best chef I know, — I thanked him, smiling gratefully…
— No need for thanks, Theresa. Enjoy, — he said with a wide smile, bowing before heading back to the kitchen.
We started eating. The fish was absolutely delicious. The men devoured the meat heartily. Ralph brought some tasty homemade wine, making the meal even more enjoyable. Everything was wonderful and delicious…
Soon, Ralph’s son, David, arrived. A handsome young man, tall like his father, and somewhat of a friend to William. He joined us at the table, and the men chatted animatedly about masculine topics.
After lunch, David took us to see various beautiful spots. He led us through the forest, and we could barely keep up with him…
I felt like I’d walked at least my weekly quota that day…
By dinner, we were so exhausted we could barely make it back to the house…
A festive dinner awaited us. I put on another beautiful dress. There were many delicious dishes. Ralph had again prepared my favorite fish and a couple of exotic dishes with fancy names…
There were plenty of toasts to Steven and me, and everything went wonderfully…
After dinner, Steven and I took another short walk along the lake before heading back to the house. We were so tired from the day that we fell asleep almost immediately. That’s how our little family celebration went. All in all, I was very pleased…
In the morning, a knock on the door woke us up.
— Enough sleeping, you lovebirds, time to get up! — William shouted from behind the door.
— Coming, stop banging! — Steven yelled back, getting out of bed.
— Breakfast is ready, I’m waiting downstairs! — William kept on.
— We’re coming, we’re coming! — I shouted cheerfully, jumping out of bed and heading to the shower.
Like soldiers, we quickly washed up, I put on a light dress, and fifteen minutes later, we were at the table…
Breakfast was delicious. The men were animatedly discussing the upcoming fishing trip. Ralph had prepared another special dish for me, and I ate it with pleasure.
— It was delicious, — I thanked the smiling Ralph.
— All for you, Theresa. Relax and enjoy the nature—it’s beautiful here, — Ralph said with a wide smile.
David spent the morning showing us fishing spots, gear, and the like. I trailed behind them like a shadow, completely lost in their conversations. By lunchtime, I was quite tired…
Lunch was filled with talk of fishing plans and other things I found utterly uninteresting. I was upset with Steven for not paying me any attention that day. Only Ralph kept smiling at me and bringing me delicious treats. I was incredibly grateful to him. He constantly reminded me that I was a beautiful, charming woman, not just a nobody…
After lunch, the men decided to nap for two hours before the evening fishing. Steven fell asleep instantly, but I tossed and turned before finally drifting off.
Two hours later, we were woken up, and everything started moving at a frantic pace. They ran along the shore, hauling inflatable and regular boats, preparing feeders, nets, and gear I didn’t understand…
But I could see things were in motion…
David brought some special brandy, and they clinked glasses whenever they crossed paths, then scattered again. It was amusing to watch from the sidelines. Steven might not have fully understood what was going on, but William and David clearly knew their stuff…
Once everything was prepared and loaded onto the boats, they finally set off. I decided it was safer to watch from the shore. Ralph brought a comfortable chair and set it up for me on the pier. Within five minutes, he returned with a small table, placing a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine on it…
— Thank you, Ralph, that’s so kind, — I thanked him.
— You, Theresa, are the queen of our lake, — he said grandly, opening the bottle and pouring me a glass of his delicious wine.
— Thank you, Ralph, I’m so flattered, — I said, blushing again.
It was a bit chilly in the evening, and he thoughtfully draped a warm blanket over me. I felt a little awkward from all this attention and kept thanking Ralph for his care. I was shy, but so grateful to him…
The weather was warm. I watched from the shore as the men set nets from two boats. They shouted and discussed things loudly. I sipped the delicious wine, feeling wonderfully content…
Sometimes, Ralph kept me company. He came by to check on their progress. We chatted and laughed about the men. Thanks to Ralph, the way he spoke and looked after me made me feel like a little lady. It warmed my heart and made me feel so good…
Evening approached, and dinner was near. I could tell from the shore that things hadn’t gone as planned for them. Ralph signaled with a flashlight, and soon the boats slowly headed back to shore. I greeted my Steven like a sailor’s wife on the pier. But he was so caught up in the fishing excitement that he barely noticed me. I felt very hurt by this…
They tied up the boats and, still talking animatedly about their topics, headed to the house. Seeing this, Ralph gently offered me his hand and helped me down from the pier…
— Don’t take it to heart, Theresa, he doesn’t mean it, — Ralph said kindly, trying to comfort me.
— Thank you, Ralph, you’re so thoughtful, — I said sadly, watching Steven walk off, engrossed in conversation with the men, ignoring me.
— Don’t be upset with him, he’s still a young man, he doesn’t always understand, — Ralph encouraged me in a fatherly tone…
— I know, but it’s our family celebration. We haven’t gone out like this together in so long, — I sighed, confiding in Ralph…
— Everything will be fine, Theresa, you’ll see, — Ralph said calmly, cheering me up.
— Thank you, you’re so kind, — I thanked him again.
Feeling a bit better from Ralph’s words, I headed to the house. The men, barely changing, sat down to eat. Steven didn’t even wait for me. I sat down and noticed no one was paying me any attention…
Ralph brought me something delicious again. Only then did I realize Steven was already quite drunk. It became clear they’d taken brandy on the boat and had a good time with it. I, too, started feeling the wine’s effects once I was inside the warm house. I’d nearly finished a whole bottle while sitting on the shore…
Steven rarely drank at home, and it was obvious the alcohol was hitting him hard. But he didn’t seem to notice. They drank brandy with their meat, while Ralph brought me some tasty, strong liqueur. It was delicious, and I got quite tipsy…
Dinner was in full swing, but no matter how hard I tried, my beloved Steven paid me no attention. I felt deeply hurt. Standing up, I said:
— Steven, I’m going to bed.
I hoped he’d hug me and ask me to stay… but…
Steven only replied curtly:
— Alright, darling, good night.
And that was it… he went back to talking with the men…
Even more hurt, I went upstairs to our room, nearly in tears…
I undressed and took a shower. Slipping into a beautiful nightgown, I climbed into bed. Downstairs, the men were loudly discussing something. The sound carried surprisingly well—I could even make out what they were saying. They talked about everything but me. And I’d so hoped my beloved Steven would focus only on me these days.
I turned toward the window, tears streaming from my beautiful eyes onto the pillow. The alcohol made my head spin pleasantly. The men downstairs kept talking loudly, and I was starting to drift off. Suddenly, I heard the door creak softly. In that moment, I was overjoyed, thinking Steven hadn’t forgotten me. But I was so hurt that I decided not to turn to him.
“Let him apologize for being so inattentive to his loving wife,” I thought.
Steven quickly shed his clothes, and I felt him slide toward me across the wide bed…
I didn’t want him to see I’d been crying because of him, so I pulled the blanket over my eyes. I was so upset with him…
— Go back to your men, why are you here? — I said, hurt.
But I was so glad he’d come to me. I loved him so much.
Steven lifted the blanket, uncovering my legs. He turned me onto my back, and then I realized it wasn’t Steven—it was Ralph…
I wanted to scream and call for Steven, but I knew he wouldn’t understand and would be furious. Steven would never forgive me for this.
— Ralph? Why are you here? — I whispered, frightened.
— Shh, Theresa, the guys might hear, — Ralph whispered back…
— I thought it was Steven, — I whispered again, eyes wide.
— You’re upset, Theresa, it’s okay, — Ralph began stroking me under the blanket.
— Steven’s downstairs, I can’t, — I whispered, panicking.
— It’s fine, it won’t take long, — Ralph said, moving closer…
— But Steven’s downstairs, I can’t.
— Shh, Theresa, shh.
He settled in and began what he’d come for.
I had no choice, and I betrayed my beloved husband again…
It had been over a year since that train trip when I’d cheated on my husband again. I’d gotten used to avoiding men with big “tools.” To keep my husband from hearing, I covered my mouth with the blanket. Eyes wide, I lay there, unsure what to do. I was terrified that my husband would walk in and find out. Ralph, it seemed, hadn’t been with a woman in a long time, and he overwhelmed me completely…
But for some reason, I didn’t even think to shower afterward…
I lay there for about twenty minutes when the voices downstairs quieted. Soon, I heard voices again, but they were coming from outside the open window, growing fainter…
Then my phone rang. I jumped, startled. With trembling hands, I picked it up.
“Did Ralph tell Steven everything?” a terrifying thought flashed through my mind.
— Yes, darling, — I said, voice trembling with anxiety.
— Bunny, just calling to say we’re heading out to fish some more. I love you, call if you need anything.
— Okay, honey.
— Good night, baby.
— Good night, honey.
Steven hung up. I sighed with relief. Ralph hadn’t told him.
I had such a wonderful family and a beloved husband. A happy family was the most important thing in the world to me, and I couldn’t even imagine losing it…
I lay on the big bed. A fresh summer breeze gently caressed my neck. Then I heard the door creak again. I turned my head and saw Ralph squeezing through the doorway with a huge tray of food. As he maneuvered through with the tray, he looked like a character from an old comedy movie. His face was so funny that I almost laughed.
— Let me help you, — I said, seeing him stumble over something in the dark.
— Yes, thank you, Theresa, or I’ll fall.
Our bags were near the bed, and Ralph nearly tripped in the dark. I hadn’t eaten much at dinner, so this late-night meal was perfect. Ralph poured me more liqueur and gave charming toasts. Thank goodness Steven was busy, or he’d have been upset to see me dining with Ralph so late…
We chatted merrily. Ralph shared that he had a wife, but she was visiting relatives and wouldn’t be back for a while, leaving him here alone…
I told him that Steven and I were never apart for long and that I understood how hard it was to be far from a beloved spouse…
Ralph also talked about his son and how he planned to pass the resort business to him and return to his homeland…
We finished eating, and I started clearing the dishes. Ralph said he’d be back for them and stepped out. After tidying up, I decided to take a shower…
When I came out, Ralph was back in the room. He pulled me onto the bed. I hadn’t expected this and was sure he wouldn’t bother me again…
But I was wrong…
Ralph was such a big, strong man that resisting him was pointless…
And I had to give in to him again…
After it was over, we continued eating and chatting about various things. I talked about our close-knit family, our love, and how we always understood each other without words. Ralph shared funny stories and anecdotes from his life. It was fun…
Well-rested, Ralph took my hand and led me back to the bed. Our passionate marathon continued. I reached the heights of bliss countless times that night. My longing was filled to the brim with the juices of betrayal. I was exhausted, my eyes closed on their own, and soon I fell into a deep sleep…
I was woken by my phone ringing. Groggy, I didn’t immediately realize what was happening. Ralph was gone, and I was alone in the room. Grabbing the phone, I saw it was Steven calling.
— Yes, darling, — my head was still foggy from sleep…
— Sorry, Theresa, we fell asleep in the sauna with the guys last night and just woke up. How are you doing? — I heard Steven’s apologetic voice…
— Oh, I’m fine, just walking by the lake, — I said, the first thing that came to mind…
— We’re checking the nets now, and I’ll come to you soon, my love.
— Okay, great. I miss you, waiting for you, darling, — Steven hung up, and I exhaled…
I looked at the clock; it was almost two in the afternoon. I didn’t feel like sleeping anymore, but I decided to lie down and rest…
An hour later, the guys returned. Steven stepped off the boat and immediately hugged me tightly.
— I missed you so much, — he said, holding me close and stroking my head.
— I missed you too, so much, — I hugged him tightly, feeling so happy in that moment…
When we got to the house, I realized Steven would want intimacy. I told him I’d spent too long on the pier the night before, got chilled, and wasn’t feeling well. Steven felt even guiltier for his actions and stayed by my side the rest of the time…
But it was time to head back. We said goodbye to Ralph and David, loaded everything into the van, and started the journey home. The guys were in great spirits. Ralph gave us a huge discount, making the trip very affordable. Surprisingly, they caught a ton of fish, filling the freezer to the brim. Steven was thrilled and suggested returning the next weekend, but I firmly refused…
After the trip, Steven felt so guilty for leaving me alone that night that he showered me with care and love. I loved it. I pretended to be very upset with him. But deep down, I wasn’t upset with Steven at all. He’d had too much to drink and hadn’t done it on purpose…
And, of course, I soon forgave him…
After all, he was the most beloved person in the world to me…
